Mine don't seem to be getting out of the Outbox, unless of course I've been sent to Coventry.

I'm near Coventry - shout:
I said ..
Try me while on board - I think they have to be 'called' by the recipient opening them up (?) - a while since I tested.
Ignored PMs stuck there for months until I killed them at my end.

They stay in the outbox until the recipient reads them.

Not answered PMs are like the damned phone call number-withhelds floging you gardening plots on Mars..
you cannot hit back at them.

That's where mine were, even though the recipients were online. All sorted now though - thanks NT.

The messages sit in your out box until the recipient has received them. Then they move to the sent items box.

How long should I leave a pm in my inbox before deleting it? Had one there for 10 months now... the user hasn't been around to pick it up... and it is such a nice pm too!

??
Sure which box you are talking about?
Outbox (for pickups; Sent for having been picked up)

Genuine received Inbox pms can stay a very long time.

Having said that now my previous normal old posts have been deleted or made inaccessible, other than very recent ones, who knows when the InPMs will be cut short.

You can always c/p your lovely message elsewhere.

I finally deleted one un-pickedup by Elma - after many months, maybe not longer than yours, however.

Have you tried sending them a message to let them know that there is a message waiting for them?
