For weeks I now note theOptom has been running extremely slowly at times eg 10-20 secs to change screens or hang for much longer. This is when only a few are logged in, so actual traffic does not seem to be very relevant.
I have checked my download times and checked speed of opening of other sites and everything is as fast as expected though my virgin link has been dicy at times and computers have many options to misbehave.
Only me?

Same here in a random fashion. Has been for months. Happens at home or work. Fairly brief episodes though.

Just happened - took over 30 secs to open a page. It can be longer.

But when every one is delayed by ages, without letup, it gets unworkable ..
That and the fact we have lost our archived posts - which I often used to refer to - indicate some sort of 'economy' is going on.

I can see every post I've ever made, going back to March 2006, that said I haven't made nearly as many as some.
I assume, and don't think it's unreasonable, that theOptom begins pruning after a user has a certain number of posts.
He/she/they can't be expected to host everything that's posted, indefinitely, on a site that's free to use.
Hosting large amounts of data and serving it up quick enough for people not to complain easily turns into an expensive hobby.

True but I can only access page 1 of mine. Page 2 and beyond are out in the ether somewhere.

I've only noticed the slowness last 1-2 weeks, but it is usually very brief.
It could be that the number of visits and page views has been growing steadily, e.g. last month we had a record: over half a million page views.

More server outages and delays at this end, especially yesterday and this morning. Very frustrating.
